Motherhood can be one of the most rewarding experiences, but it can also bring challenges that affect your emotional wellbeing. From the pressure to ‘do it all’ to the feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, anxiety or low mood, many mums struggle in silence. In my work as a maternal mental health counsellor, I see first-hand how important it is to talk about these challenges openly and without judgement. This is exactly what I discussed in my recent interview on The Parents’ Show with the lovely Lydia, whose warm and welcoming approach made it so easy to share my thoughts.
We talked about the pressure to ‘have it all together’ and how feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, or low mood are far more common than many realise. I shared why it’s so important to talk openly about your experiences, seek support early, and remember you’re not alone. We also discussed how counselling can be a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
