Pregnancy or infant loss can be the most heartbreaking experience a parent faces. Whether it happens early in pregnancy, through miscarriage or stillbirth, or after birth, the grief that follows can feel overwhelming and isolating.

As a counsellor supporting mums in St Albans and online across the UK, I understand that every experience of loss is deeply personal and unique. There’s no ‘right’ way to grieve, and no timeline for healing. Every story matters. Every emotion — sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, or numbness — is valid and deserves to be heard.

You are not alone

Many mums describe a silence around baby loss — as if the world keeps moving while they’re standing still. You may feel like no one quite understands, or that you should be coping differently. But please know this: you are not alone.

Each year, thousands of families in the UK experience pregnancy or infant loss. Yet, it can still feel like a lonely place to be. Taking time to talk about your baby, your experience, and your emotions can be an important step toward healing.

Gentle, understanding support

I have completed the Foundation for Infant Loss’s Advanced Level Pregnancy and Infant Loss Practitioner Training, which has deepened my understanding of the emotional and psychological impact of loss, and how to support parents with compassion, sensitivity, and care.

Through counselling, I offer a calm and non-judgemental space where you can explore your grief safely, find ways to honour your baby, and gently reconnect with yourself. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, it’s never too late to seek support.

If you’re based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, or would prefer online counselling, we can work together in a way that feels right for you — at your own pace.

Finding light in loss

Grief isn’t something you ‘get over’. It’s something that changes shape over time. Some days may feel softer; others may bring unexpected waves of sadness. With the right support, many mums find gentle ways to hold both their love and their loss — and, in time, to rediscover moments of peace and hope.

If you are navigating pregnancy or infant loss, please know you don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for help is an act of courage and care for yourself.
