Nicky Kantura
Counselling
Specialising in maternal mental health
Hi, I'm Nicky, a fully qualified and BACP registered counsellor who is passionate about supporting mums. Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem? Have you experienced a loss or maybe feel that life is too much? I'm here to support you to work through problems you’re facing so you can better manage your day-to-day life.
I provide counselling in person in St Albans, Hertfordshire (please see FAQs section for address), as well as online and on the phone.
About me
Experience
I have had challenges with my own mental health over the years, such as anxiety, depression and panic attacks. This led me to become a counsellor so I could support others the way I was supported. When I became a mum I also struggled with post-natal anxiety, so I understand the challenges mothers can face, whether they're dealing with pre-natal issues, have new babies, or have older children.
I have over 10 years’ experience of working in the mental health sector and have always had a particular personal interest in supporting mothers. I have provided counselling for mums who were survivors of domestic abuse at a women's refuge. I also work with mums in private practice who are a range of ages and who need support on a range of issues. In addition, I have worked with individuals living with sight loss at a local charity, and 18-25 year olds at a low-cost counselling service.
How we can work together
I offer integrative counselling, which means I will work with you as an individual and choose a therapeutic approach (or approaches) that will work for you and what you bring to counselling. It may be important to work with what has happened in your childhood or have goals to work on specific issues. Or it may be that you just need a space where someone listens to you who isn’t involved in your day-to-day life.
Building and maintaining a relationship with you is hugely important and I put you at the centre of that relationship. I believe that you have the ability to achieve what you want and need from therapy, and it is my role to support you in doing that.

I have experience of, and am more than happy to, work with people from any walk of life. The most important thing is that you are comfortable with me as your counsellor.
